Student Playwriting Competition
and
Performance Festival
The NC Wesleyan Players’ Annual Ten-Minute Play Competition is an opportunity for [any and all] NC Wesleyan students to submit a Ten-Minute Play composed to address or involve the topic/subject for THAT year’s competition. Entries are submitted during the Fall Semester and circulated to a faculty jury which ranks the entries. The top five plays are produced in March with all five performed each evening of a three-night run. The final night of performance, the plays are awarded their respective places, with the student play-wrights receiving a placement plaque and their respective monetary award [1st place:$100…2nd:$50…3rd:$25...4th :$15…5th :$10]
Wesleyan Players
Wesleyan Players is for students interested in theatre. Founded in 1962, when the group staged the first NCWC drama production [Tartuffe], Wesleyan Players has a long tradition of commitment to preparation and performance of works to entertain and educate the college and community. It aims at spiritual and intellectual growth, while giving students extra-curricular opportunities to do plays, musical theatre, improv, and presentations on and off campus. Wesleyan Players sponsors an annual ten-minute play [writing] competition for students and an annual Shakespeare roast.
